How do we know it's a week? Pull the record first: the original date, the new date and what actually moved it. Then sort the story the team is telling itself. Confirmed: the date moved. Inference: 'we failed' or 'leadership is furious.' Unverified: that any customer noticed.

Deflation lives in the inferences, so call them inferences out loud. Send one plain correction: what slipped, why, the new date and what it depends on. Still open: any dependency nobody has confirmed. Confirm those before you promise the new date.
