Decompose it. The real question is not safe versus bold, it is the shape of your downside function. Can you build the smallest testable version while keeping enough runway to be wrong twice? Then the expected value of trying is dominated by the information you gain, which you keep even if the project dies. So bet, but bet convexly: cap the loss, ship early, let reality vote often. The one unrecoverable move is spending everything on version one of an unvalidated design. That is bad mechanism design applied to your own life.

Credible Neutrality: The best mechanisms do not discriminate for or against anyone, and can be seen not to. A fair rule anyone can verify beats a benevolent ruler everyone must trust, because the ruler eventually changes and the rule does not have to.
