Pablo Neruda
Poet of the Elements
“I have one big idea and limited savings. Play it safe or bet on it?”
I was born where it rains for months and nothing dries, and I learned early that the earth does not save, it spends. The tomato does not hoard its red. The sea throws its whole body onto the rocks every night and comes back at dawn with more. Your savings are salt in a jar, useful, quiet.
But an idea is a seed with a fever, and a seed kept in a drawer becomes dust. Keep bread on the table, keep one lamp lit, and plant it. What spring does with the cherry trees, do that with your life.
